Tradewind are recruiting for an caring & nurturing Early Years Teaching Assistant for a special needs primary school in Salford.

About the role:

Early Years Teaching Assistant in a special needs primary school in Salford area.
Start date - ASAP
Full time and long term with the potential to turn in to a permanent contract.
Pay up to £75 per day.
Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis with Autism (ASC) or suspected Autism. Pupils have sensory needs, speech & language needs and occasionally can display challenging behaviours. Most pupils are still going through the diagnosis process so you will need to support the class teacher and other staff in learning about pupils' needs and recognising triggers etc.
You must have previous experience supporting young people with Autism.
You must also have previous experience in one of the following roles: Early Years Teaching Assistant, Nursery Nurse, Nursery Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Primary Teaching Assistant or Support Worker with primary aged children.

About the pupils:

All pupils are aged 2-11 and have an EHCP for SEN with the majority having Autism (ASC).
The follow P-Scales and Early Years EYFS curriculum as well as other alternative curriculum aspects suited to the needs of their children.
Pupils need support managing emotions, processing and understanding work and interaction with peers.
Some need support with language and speech as she is working at lower than expected levels.
Some have Speech & Language needs and use PECS or Makaton to communicate.
Staff promote independence, enthusiasm for learning, confidence and courage in their pupils and this is the basis on which pupils are able to achieve.
Some pupils have Sensory Needs so an appreciation and empathy towards this is needed.
