This is a full-time, 10 month-per-year, tenure track faculty librarian position. Library faculty work thirty-five hours per week. Members of the full-time faculty are expected to devote as much time as necessary to perform the professional responsibilities of the position. Participation in professional activities, curriculum development, and campus committees is expected. The assignment may include onsite, online or hybrid format and include evening and/or Saturday hours.
The Librarian's primary responsibility is to provide vision and leadership in developing and leading library outreach initiatives focused on student engagement, equity, and success across diverse college and community groups to address the academic support needs of non-traditional, transfer, and underrepresented credit and noncredit students.
The GCC Library is a fast-paced, student-centered, teaching library. The successful candidate will have experience with information competency instruction, reference, information technology, electronic resources, and collection development and enjoys working in a highly collaborative team environment.

Examples of Duties:
Teach library credit classes and instruction sessions including workshops, contextualized instruction, orientations and embedded instruction.
Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with instructional and non-instructional areas and participate in college wide initiatives to advance the library's role in student learning and success.
Create and maintain innovative print and digital library marketing and communication materials to promote library programs and services.
Design physical and digital exhibits and explore other innovative techniques to engage the college community in information competency, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
Participate, coordinate, and implement new and existing events and programs with other departments/divisions to promote library resources, services, and information competency to the college community.
Establish and coordinate assessment of outreach and student engagement initiatives.
Present professional development sessions to faculty and staff.
Conduct reference interactions in person, by phone, and online.
Participate in collection development.
Participate in campus governance and professional activities (e.g., committees, scheduling, leadership positions, faculty meetings, etc.).
Participate in staff development and continuing education activities that are designed to maintain and develop currency in the field, pedagogy (for traditional and online teaching and learning), and student support strategies, especially as they relate to student equity initiatives.
Work to achieve the college's Institutional, Program, and Student Learning Outcomes in support of Glendale Community College's Mission Statement.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all employees and others encountered in the course of work.
Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Perform other library-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's in library science or library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution OR the equivalent.
Experience in developing academic library/information competency outreach initiatives.
Experience developing marketing strategies, including marketing and communication plans.
Experience with accessible design.
Experience working with students to develop information competency skills.
Experience related to library programs, services, materials, and operations that support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Experience with needs assessment, program development, and project oversight.
Experience providing academic reference services.
Experience in collection development.
Experience using a learning management system.
Librarian experience that reflects culturally responsive library practices.
Salary, Health and Welfare Benefits
Starting salary is from $65,951 to $91,306 per year depending upon education and experience. Step placement within the appropriate column is determined by Article VIII of the Glendale College Guild, Local 2276, Collective Bargaining Agreement. Additionally, information regarding health and welfare benefits may be found in Article XI.
