Smile Education is currently working in partnership with a large Birmingham based nursery in the recruitment and appointment of a Nursery Manager. Joining a well established and supportive nursery, this vacancy requires a vibrant and enthusiastic candidate who can commit full time on a permanent basis.

The main responsibilities of this role are:

To be responsible overseeing the day to day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of the Nursery.
To attend regular supervision and team meetings.
To be responsible for marketing the Nursery.
To be a member of the management team and to contribute to the strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation and development of the Nursery.
To be responsible at all times for high standards of care and education of children between 0 to five years in accordance with statutory requirements.
To ensure the EYFS is promoted and delivered within the setting and the principles adhered to.
To ensure effective communication between the staff and with all partner organisations.
To work in partnership with the Early Years Department, local childcare/educational providers, health providers, Sure Start and other Children's centres.
To take responsibility for quality assurance and compliance with all applicable legislation, including Health and Safety, within the Nursery environment.
To be responsible for all admissions.
To keep a register and up to date records of all children and to give regular feedback to parents about their child's development and progress.
To implement and manage an effective parent liaison programme, ensuring regular communication and interaction with parents.
To be responsible for organising training and monitoring students in the setting.

Candidate Requirements:

A full and relevant level 3 childcare / teaching qualification or higher
GCSE grades A-C / 4+ in English & Maths where required to meet the qualification full and relevant criteria.
Full Paediatric First Aid Qualification
Knowledge, understanding and recent experience of working with young children.
Knowledge and understanding of child development.
Sound knowledge and understanding of legislation and the EYFS.
Recent experience of managing and supervising other staff members.

· Knowledge, understanding and practical experience of Day Care for young children

· Knowledge and practical understanding of child development and parenting

· Knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulations relating to day care for young children and the inspections process for approval of day care settings

· Knowledge and ability to create and implement policies and procedures consistent with legislation, regulations and local requirements

· Able to work independently and to manage own time efficiently

· Experience of managing, supervision and appraisal of staff
