Job Description

Randstad is looking for a Practical/Study Support Assistant to work with a student at the University of Dundee. In this role you will accompany the student while on campus and assist them with practical and study tasks, and will play a vital role in helping this student to access their university degree.

Hours will generally be Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, except on a Wednesday which will be a half day 9am-1pm.

Interacting directly with the student - YOU help them to achieve their goalsResponsibilities:

Communicate with the student in person or by phone
Meet the student at the taxi drop off, accompany the student during their day on campus until they are picked up by taxi to travel home at the end of the day.
Accompany the student on campus, keeping close by to support their balance if necessary - The student walks with mobility aid but can lose their balance/trip particularly when tired or rushing.
Undergo training for the students Personal Emergency Evacuation plan
Support the student to evacuate if required. Accompany the student to descend stairs safely, supporting balance if necessary.
Support the student with practical tasks if required. The student is studying Fine Art so this can very much vary with the brief and the approach the student takes with their work.
Support the student to access UoD IT systems required for their studies: university email, Teams, My Dundee
Support the student to organise information on their laptop, developing a file structure and shortcuts to frequently used files and applications.
Support the student to attend online lectures - knowing when these are and supporting them to use the appropriate app to attend.
Support the student to keep track of emails and appointments. Requirements:

Experience/understanding of providing support for disabled adults
Good interpersonal skills.
Punctuality and reliability
Good organisational skills
Ideally, you will have experience in working with specific learning difficulties individuals in higher or further education
