Seven Resourcing are currently looking for a School Nurses - SCPHN, our client's service consists of teams of nurses, school nurses and supporting healthcare professionals based in three hubs across Warwickshire, supported by a county-wide team with a range of relevant specialisms. The school nurses lead their teams in providing the services offered as part of the Healthy Child Programme. Each hub is overseen by a School Nurse Team Leader and supported by the Service Manager, Clinical Nurse Manager and Practice Educator. They are looking to recruit this position on a permanent basis on a full-time basis, but part time hours/job share will also be considered.

The role:

As School Nurse, you will have a Specialist Community Public Nursing (SCPHN) qualification (School Nursing) and will provide leadership and direction to a skill mix team. This will include delegating and co-ordinating assessments, interventions and other services provided as part of the Healthy Child Programme, as well as offering information, advice and support. You will be working both independently and as part of a multi-agency team around the family. Safeguarding is an integral part of the role. Our School Nurses help us deliver an effective service that makes a difference, while keeping children, young people and families at the heart of everything we do.

Our client has three office bases in Nuneaton, Rugby and Stratford-Upon-Avon (depending on your preference). You will work from a variety of settings including schools, partner agencies, children's and family centres and homes, working flexibly and creatively to best engage and meet the diverse health needs of the school aged population.

Duties:

  • Manage the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, delegating tasks and interventions to the skill mix team in line with their role, responsibilities and competency levels.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for children, young people, families, schools and partner agencies on health and wellbeing related issues. Working at universal and universal plus level, assess, facilitate/co-ordinate and refer on to specialist agencies (partnership plus level) as appropriate.
  • Respond swiftly and make a professional judgement about identified health needs following specific care pathways. Carry out assessments, brief interventions and follow-ups in response. Manage a caseload, prioritising cases appropriately and keeping up-to-date and accurate records.
  • Analyse health needs data at different levels by utilising profile tools and accessing local data information (e.g. Chimat, JSNA, Health Needs Assessment, Public Health Observatory) to inform work undertaken.
  • Lead, develop and implement public health initiatives utilising an annual school public health plan in collaboration with other priority agencies.
  • Support children, young people and families in need of universal plus services through Early Help and other processes. This includes taking the role of Lead Professional where required, delegating responsibilities to other nurses, and contributing to safeguarding multi-agency assessments, meetings and reports.
  • Support children and young people who have long-term conditions or complex health needs, including contributing to individual health care plans and providing or coordinating support, education and training for families, carers and school staff in partnership with specialist healthcare professionals.
  • Oversee, deliver and support health needs assessments and reviews for vulnerable groups (e.g. CiC, home educated, young carers).

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NMC Registered nurse, Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification (SCPHN-School nursing)
  • Experience: Previous mentorship/preceptorship experience, caseload management responsibilities and working with vulnerable groups.
  • Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK and DBS checked and on the update service or be willing to undertake one.
  • Travel: The ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: Full time/part time/job share
  • Pay: £31,714 - £38,773 per annum
