Position: Teaching Assistant (Post Level 2)

Contract: Full time, one year contract in the first instance

Start date: Friday 2nd September

Hours: 32.5 hours per week basis, working term time only.

A client school of Teaching Personnel is seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to a temporary post for a year, starting from September 2022.

The school have specified that they are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and qualified person to be a key member of their team. The role will involve working under the direction of teaching staff and members of the Senior Management Team to assist teachers and support pupils throughout the school.

Applicants will be able to speak, read and write the Welsh language fluently and to a high standard, and ideally have a qualification in childcare and experience of working with children.

*The applicant will be employed by Teaching Personnel in the first instance with the view of transferring onto the school's contract if successful in the probation period.

The school

The school is located on the outskirts of the city of Newport and it serves the northern and north-western areas of the city. There are over 200 pupils on roll, including 28 part-time nursery-age pupils. It has nine classes, including one mixed-age class.Very few pupils come from Welsh-speaking homes.

Vetting requirements

Applicants should note that successful applicants will be required to:

- Undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) criminal record check.

- Register as a School Learning Support Worker with the Education Workforce Council

- Provide two professional reference

- Provide details of professional development and any details of working with children with additional needs or across the primary school age range.
